The SPC900NC replaces the very popular ToUcam 840K that had been a staple of lunar and planetary photography for several years.

The SPC900NC uses the same Sony ICX098QB CCD sensor that the ToUcam 840K used, and will reward us with similar astrophotographic performance.

Phillips USB webcams have long been used for color imaging of solar system objects. They contain high resolution, sensitive Sony CCDs. The SPC900NC connects to and is powered by the USB port of a Pentium II or higher computer and is attached to a telescope with the included 1.25" adaptor. When you use a barlow or focal reducer this will allow image scale to be adjusted. For accurate color imaging an IR block filter is desirable as the CCD chip is sensitive to IR light.
